Are there recommended restaurants located near the Lotus Garden Cottages

Yes! We have a few nice restaurants and art galleries in our Volcano Village including Thai-Thai (Thai cuisine), Café Ohelo (cute Italian joint), Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant (German/American).

How far is the Lotus Garden Cottages located from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park?

We are right in the Volcano Village which is the nearest town to the national park, 3 miles to the park entrance.

Can I climb Mauna Kea Observatories with my rental car? Can I climb down the Waipio Valley with my rental car?

Officially, you are allowed to drive only a 4 wheel drive up or down there, but occasionally people may attempt to climb with an all wheel drive.

Do I need to rent a car to get to Lotus Garden Cottages, or are there public transportation options available near you?

You will need to have a rental car to get to our place or to get around the area as there is nopublic transportation available. A taxi cab will charge you minimum $100 from the Hilo Airport to Lotus Garden Cottages. During the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival in April, you may want to make a rental car reservation way ahead of the time.

Do you have umbrellas for guest use?

Yes, we have a few available free of charge.

Are we allowed to cook at White Lotus Garden Cottages?

No, as a bed and breakfast, we are not allowed to have our guests to cook in their rooms.

Do you have washer/dryer available for guest use?

Yes, normally they are for the house use only, but if you are staying an extended period of time, we may allow bed and breakfast guests to use them.

Is there air conditioning in the rooms?

No, air conditioning is not necessary since it is cool throughout the year. The cottages are located at four thousand feet above sea level on the mountain side.

Can children be guests at Lotus Garden Cottages?

Our Hula Moon Cottage has a king bed plus a futon couch which can sleep young children up to teenagers. Our maximum occupancy for adult guests is two per room. Other rooms can accept one additional minor guest, and we can provide an air mattress for a small fee.

What’s the latest we can check in?

If your flight arrives late in the day, you may arrive here past 6 p.m. and request for a self check-in instructions. If you desire an early check in before 3 p.m., you may pre-arrange it with the innkeeper.

How long does it take from the Kona Airport?

The drive to our bed and breakfast will be a minimum two and a half hours, plus any stop for sightseeing. The Saddle road may shorten it by twenty minutes but no sightseeing available there.

How far are the cottages from the Hilo Airport?

The bed and breakfast is forty minutes drive from that airport, or 30 miles.

Can you provide tips for day trips or about touring the Volcano National Park?

Yes, we will be glad to assist you with your itinerary when you arrive.

Is your property accessible by the disabled?

No, it is elevated from the ground level and there are staircases to come up to lanai level.
